Proposition for Prepositions

Is your mind unmoored and adrift, frantically splashing around in a sea full of unformed ideas with no life preserver and the only buoy in sight wears a hanging sign that rocks the words “Writer’s Block?”  Fear not. I’m here, a wordmaid supported by prepositional fins, to help you float your imagination to that wonderful land, the Land of Word-filled Pages. For a writer with almost no academic credentials, I have something to say about writer’s block, something I was taught in the seventh grade. It has always worked well for me, and I’m amazed that I have not, as of this moment, at the … Continue reading Proposition for Prepositions

Blog Calendar/Planner

Hello all, I’ve completed two different Blog Calendar/Planners. To date (5/20/17,) only the “Mushroom Man” is posted on Etsy.com under the shop name “Salish Mist.” I really have to figure out my photography for products posted online. I developed this calendar/planner for bloggers who desire to write an average of three posts per week, memoirists’, and freelancers who, when submitting their works to periodicals, need to stay six to nine months ahead of the game. It’s my hope every writer can benefit from it. Included within these planners are: • June 2017-December 2018: 18 month (+) planning • Dates of interest for … Continue reading Blog Calendar/Planner

Legend of the Moss Woman

The Native American Indians of Olympic Peninsula did not like to go deep within the rain-forest valleys. There were many things roaming the dark woods, like Seatco (spelling is questionable but pronounced Sea-ahck-toe or something close to that,) who is known as Bigfoot in other places. Scary little people lived along river banks. They would throw sticks at the tribal members canoeing the waterways to get them to turn back, and these creatures were called Stick People.  Perhaps the Stick People were cousins to the Nan-a-push, the little people of the forest. There were Thunderbirds too—huge birds that could move massive boulders … Continue reading Legend of the Moss Woman

Mystery Cats and Cabin Nights

This story is an excerpt from my upcoming book of life stories titled Moonwalks and Unknowns featuring the Trespassers. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know. Set up: During this story my husband, eight-year-old son and myself live in an unfinished 12×16 two-story cabin on five acres of raw, forested land in the foothills of the mysterious Olympic Mountains within Washington State. We have no power, no running water and use a rough-shod outhouse, even during the worst weather. To shower, we either visit the State Park or John Wayne Marina. Life is not easy during this time.  Every afternoon … Continue reading Mystery Cats and Cabin Nights

Letter to Donald Trump for Help in Fleshing Out a Character within My Fiction Novel

November 15, 2016 Note to readers: the following letter was originally written in August 2014. It has nothing to do with current politics. It was never mailed. You are welcome to share your thoughts on my questions. I’ve spent 2 1/2 Nanowrimos on this fiction novel so far. I wasn’t able to participate this November and sorely miss the opportunity. But I do want to thank all the writers over there for their help during previous years. Here was/is my “working title and cover.” It’s just something, you know, something. I kept this letter to Donald Trump within my notes because … Continue reading Letter to Donald Trump for Help in Fleshing Out a Character within My Fiction Novel

Behind the Scene: Radio show guest: Part 1

Oct. 20, 2016 It must be around 7 am PST. I don’t know or care because I’m sawing logs after finally climbing into bed after preparing an email to Pastor Catlin covering his questions concerning myself, the Practical Preparation for the Lord’s Second Coming book, and his rundown on what I can expect this evening a mere couple hours ago. *Note to Pastor Catlin: I ran down your email “list of things” one by one and it took me this long to reply. It wasn’t until I was at the end of your email that I noticed your words: “I need … Continue reading Behind the Scene: Radio show guest: Part 1
